Become a Friend

FRIENDS OF THE CARSON CITY LIBRARY was formed in 1965 after the State Library announced it would be discontinuing check-out service within the year. As a result of the efforts of the founding FRIENDS' members, the Carson City Library opened in June, 1966. That the Carson City Library is recognized as an exceptional center of information and socialization in the community is due to support in the form of substantial contributions of time, talent and money.

Throughout the years, the FRIENDS have continued to support the Library in times of need.
Because of the budgetary constraints of recent years, the Library has had to be increasingly dependent on a high level of community involvement to meet the needs of a rapidly expanding population as well as the rising costs of books, technology, facilities and staff.

When you join the FRIENDS, you are making a direct contribution to maintaining and expanding the Library as a valuable community asset, which provides education, enjoyment and enlightenment for you and your friends, now and in the future.

Additionally

THE FRIENDS OF THE CARSON CITY LIBRARY offer opportunities to become involved in the library and the community.

Board Meetings are scheduled the second Monday of each month in the Library Auditorium at 10:00 AM unless otherwise noted. All members are welcome (and encouraged) to participate.

Book Sales are held at regular intervals. Please provide your E-mail address when you become a Friend, and we shall notify you of upcoming book sales.
